Frequently Asked Questions

Do Shower Plants Get Bugs?

Not typically, and if they do there is an easy natural treatment. House plant pests mainly come from overly wet soil. Shower plants come in a specially formulated substrate that keeps the roots just moist enough to thrive, while not allowing for the buildup of pests.

If you ever do get pests use 1 part hydrogen peroxide to 4 parts water. Soak the plant and substrate and watch the bubbles do their magic. You may need to gently repack the substrate around the base of the plant as the peroxide bubbles internally.

Does the Steam and Soap Hurt the Shower Plants?

No! It’s actually the opposite. The soapy water splash helps to keep down pests and mildew. The steam and hot water is like a little plant sauna. They dig it and thrive!

Do I Need Shower Stands For My Standing Shower Plants?

While the standing pots and all drilled with holes in the bottoms to promote air circulation, it is helpful for the plant to be up off the tile of the shower. So, it’s not necessary, but it is highly recommended. Even if you don’t buy and use our stands, just get something under the pot to raise it up a bit. It helps everything!

What Happens When My Shower Plants Grow Too Big?

Cut them or transplant them, silly goose! You can always upgrade a hanging shower plant to a standing shower plant DIY pot, super easy. Also you can trim any of our hanging or standing plants pretty liberally without hurting the plant. If they stat to take over, just pull an Indian Jones with some scissors and knock them back a bit. Nothing to worry about!
